Thargomindah is the Outback Town DGT departs from. The easiest way there is by plane, which is included in your package. However, if you choose to extend the adventure and drive to and from Thargo, we can cater to this.

Thargomindah is truly the gateway to the desert! Located on the Bulloo River and within the Bulloo Shire, although tiny and quiet, it offers most services – a motel, caravan and hotel accommodation and a range of eating options.

When it came into existence in the 1870s and 1880s the town’s main activities were servicing the stations at Bulloo Downs and Durham Downs. Later it became an important stopover for carriers taking wool from Queensland to the steamers which travelled down the Darling River from Bourke to South Australia.

Alive with colour, beauty and culture, South West Queensland will lure you back time and time again. Desert Gateway Dirt Bike Tours will take you from the sealed Adventure Way and across the channel country to experience the Queensland desert in all its natural glory.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT DGT. NOTHING DIRTY 😉

Geoff Pike

Desert Gateway will definitely deliver on their promise of creating an adventure tour that is one hell of a ride.

It’s awesome that the Embos are bringing tourism to the outback and sharing what this amazing countryside has to offer. Get amongst it!

Justin Kummerow

I’ve always loved riding with Embo! Can’t wait to get off the beaten track again with Desert Gateway Tours.

Michael Harland

I've done a lot of riding and camping but not across the desert. It's going to be the adrenaline rush I've been waiting for!

Pants Renfrey

Mate, we have had some awesome rides together on the Sunny and Fraser Coats. Always full of adventure and fun! What an awesome opportunity you have created to allow others to experience this region. Go well!

Duncan Isatt (Scottland)

After being in Oz working for a few months I took the chance on heading to the outback. It DID NOT DISSAPOINT! Everything from single track trails to rocky hilltops with more challenging paths to cross. I enjoyed the peace of farm life at the homesteads, swims in the creek campsite with a cold beer, and enjoyed the curious kangaroos. Loved meeting the legendary Outback Mac, a retired desert racer, who showed us around his amazing property. The experience was absolute class, cool riding, solid bikes, great camping and class craic all the way!
